Nice to meet you!
I'm Sarah.
I've worked in software development, in various roles, for well over a decade, primarily working in user experience and design for custom software implementations - websites, web applications, and mobile apps. Much of my recent experience has revolved around high-volume websites and content management system (CMS) implementations, involving tasks that relate to content strategy including information architecture, IA testing, content development and content-related training.
My experience has provided me exposure to a variety of industries and domains, including education, environment and conservation, transportation, human services, law enforcement, insurance and commerce, labor and employment, veterinary, and judicial. Working for many years in the public sector, I'm especially interested in bringing a civic-minded design approach to my projects, focusing on broad accessibility and usability principles that serve the largest population possible.
Whether you need someone to help get your web project started, to consult on how to execute a project that prioritizes users and usability, or specific design, strategy, content, and implementation-related services, I think I can be of value.

I completed my master's degree in Project Management at Boston University in 2010. I am also a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). Additionally, I hold a Foundation in Human-Centered Design (CPUX-F) certificate through the International Usability and User Experience Qualification Board (UXQB).
I have worked on many projects requiring design, strategy, content, and other consulting services, and served as the Director of User Experience at Portland Webworks / GovWebworks, where I spent several years leading a creative and content team. My work on this team focused heavily on public sector clientele, predominantly state agencies. During this period, I honed a team-building and leadership style that allows talent to shine and individuals to feel supported, and developed tactics for applying AI in design for humans.
I'd love to chat about your project and about how my background and services might be of use to your team. I welcome a reach out.
